Medical Secretary

Medical secretary for front desk, answering phones, scheduling patients, checking in and out, collection of co-pays, reconciliation of batches, processing payments for self-pay services, triaging emergency phone calls, faxing, filing, referral processing, and follow-up calls. Good verbal and communication skills are essential for this position with a proven track record in patient satisfaction.

Must have the ability to multi-task, utilizing a multi-line phone system. At least 2 years ophthalmology or specialty provider office experience is preferred. Experience using AthenaHealth a plus. Must have working knowledge of office equipment, including but not limited to, credit card processing terminals, copying, faxing, and scanning equipment. Knowledge of electronic medical records and computerized scheduling is required. Understanding insurance plans, vision plans, processing and obtaining referrals is a plus. Willingness to learn and be flexible working in a team environment, but also able to work independently.

Ophthalmic Assistant:  (FT or PT)

Fast-paced, multi-specialty ophthalmic practice is seeking a full time Ophthalmic Assistant. Certification a plus.

Must be flexible, have reliable transportation, the ability to multi-task, possess good verbal and written communication skills and be able to work in a team environment.

Ophthalmic assistant candidates should have at least 1-2 years experience in an ophthalmic practice and the necessary skills to perform general workups including, refraction and testing to include A/R, tonometry, pachymetry, visual field, OCT, Fundus Photography, Ascans (Immersion and Lenstar) and fluorescein angiography. Candidates should possess a working knowledge of electronic medical records and be able to capture and input detailed patient histories with speed and accuracy.

Optician Assistant/Testing Technician (PT – 30 hours)

Assist Optician with sales, ordering and dispensing of contact lenses and eyeglasses, scanning patient receipts, and reconciling vendor accounts.  Excellent verbal and written communication is required. Must be comfortable initiating sales, collecting and posting payments – and other duties as needed for a positive patient experience.  Ability to learn and utilize office equipment to capture patient information for order entry.  Have the ability to perform contact lens insertion and removal instructions at scheduled visits.

Have the ability to learn to perform tests on the following equipment:  Humphrey Visual Field Testing, Retinal Photography, Lensometry, Topography, Biometry, Pachymetry and Optical Tomography (OCT)
