What Is the Retina?

The retina is the light-sensitive tissue that lines the inside of the eye. The Retina functions similar to the role of film in a camera that it receives the image of what we are seeing. Nerve fibers within the retina send these images as electrical signals to the brain by way of the Optic Nerve which then interprets these signals as visual images.
