LipiView Evaluation

Lack of visible signs can make identification and diagnosis of MGD difficult and frustrating.  The SPEED™ Questionnaire, LipiView® II, and Korb MGE™ provide our eye care professionals with a streamlined method for identifying and diagnosing MGD, with confidence.

Check out the steps to diagnosing and treating MGD.

At Dedham Ophthalmic Consultants and Surgeons, we have incorporated the three step process for diagnosing and treatment of MGD. They are as follows:

  1. The Standard Patient Evaluation of Eye Dryness (SPEED™) Questionnaire identifies and rates dry eye symptoms by asking four simple questions on symptom frequency and severity. Validated by independent researchers, if symptoms are detected, LipiView® II and a gland evaluation are recommended.
  1. The Korb Meibomian Gland Evaluator™ (MGE) is the only instrument that provides a standardized, repeatable evaluation of meibomian gland function by applying the pressure of a deliberate blink while observing gland function through a slit lamp. The Korb MGE™ can be easily added into a routine eye exam and allows eye care professionals to determine function, track progression and treatment response.
  1. LipiView® II with DMI is the only instrument available that assesses both meibomian gland function and structure to detect MGD in its earliest stages..
